Peter was born in Springfield, Mass and grew up in Longmeadow. After graduating high school he attended the University of Maine at Orono. There, while earning his bachelor's degree in education, he fell in love with Maine and the outdoors. After graduation he went on to become a paramedic and worked for more than 20 years before being called to go to medical school and become a doctor. He is currently a family doctor in northern Maine.
Peter is the father of 3 grown children who are also Bement alumni. He is an avid outdoorsman.
The son of Bement director, Jim Climo Sr., he was a "staff brat" from age 0 to 4. He returned to camp as a camper, then kitchen crew and CIT from 1968 through 1977. He currently serves as the President of our Board of Directors.
