Hi, my name is Mike Dvareckas.  I am not an alumn of Bement, but my twin sons Mike Jr. and Jonathan attended Bement in 1991. Both are currently serving in the US Air Force. I got interested in saving Bement when my wife, Karen, began explaining the importance and value of her camp experience which drew her into the process of being on the Board of the Bement Alumni Association.

I graduated from high school in Worcester, then went into the US Air Force, where I was stationed at Pease AFB in NH. When I left the Air Force, I served as a part time police officer in Uxbridge. During that time, my family grew to include the twins, and my daughters Stephanie and Lindsay.  I have held several jobs that involved handling money, including my present job in cash management services. I have managed retail automotive parts sales, convenience store retail sales, and have been active in the Worcester political scene. I have also been an outspoken advocate for special education, because my daughter Lindsay is autistic. She is now 22 and has been placed in a residential home, where I keep in contact with her providers all the time. I attended Fitchburg State College and have almost completed a 4-yr. course of study in the field of Special Education.  I have been a lay reader, Eucharistic Minister and Vestry member at St. Michael’s –on-the-Heights.  For a time, I was Junior Warden at St. Michael’s and helped accomplish a number of upgrades to the property, including re-tarring and expanding the church’s parking lot.

My wife Karen (Haynes-Dvareckas) and I live in Rutland, MA with our cat, Timothy. We both enjoy the country atmosphere (except when it snows!) and we are happy to be able to help in such a cause as helping to save Camp Bement.
